Editorial Co-ordinator

About The Novelry

We are the worldwide creative writing school for novelists offering a dedicated and comprehensive support programme for writers who wish to become published authors. We have been operating for 6 years, and are a fast-growing company looking for an editorial co-ordinator to join our collaborative team and to support the editorial department. This is a rewarding role in a dynamic, ambitious company that values expertise and offers truly engaging work and a fulfilling work-life balance.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You will be a systems person, highly organized and familiar with using digital technology to organize data, including spreadsheets. You will have a head for numbers (as well as a love of reading!)
  • You will be unflappable in the face of user-friendly technology (Zoom, Hubspot, Acuity Scheduling and Canva, among others) and able and willing to use new systems. You will receive training but will eventually become responsible for maintaining and updating the systems we use daily.
  • You will be organised and efficient, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure that systems and processes are running effectively and to schedule.
  • You will enjoy organising events and have likely been the go-to person for organising social events and meetings. You will have an eye for planning and details.
  • You will work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, and will be responsible for supporting the editorial department administratively.
  • You will be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing. You will eventually become the main point of contact for any editorial queries, and will be responsible for liaising with writers on a regular basis.
  • You will be a good proof-reader, able to spot and correct errors in your own work and in others’.
  • You must be a self-starter who can manage your own workload and deadlines, and who feels comfortable and confident raising issues and suggesting improvements to senior members of the team.
  • You will be energised by the start-up mentality of a small company, wiling to pitch in on new projects and develop ideas.
  • You will have a love of novels and a keen interest in how stories work. You do not need editorial experience, or experience within a publishing house, but a love of reading is essential.

What You Can Expect

This is a full-time position and the salary will be £30,000. This is mostly a remote role, with occasional meetings at our offices in London, Victoria. The closing date for applications is Friday 15th March 2024. To apply, please ensure you have explored our website at www.thenovelry.com and then email a CV and covering letter addressed to Lizzy (including details of your notice period and a line or two on your favourite read so far this year) to hello@thenovelry.com.
