OA Associate Publisher/Publisher – HSS

Our client, a leading provider of tools and services to the research community offers an exciting opportunity for an Associate Publisher/Publisher to develop and expand the services they offer to fulfil the needs of the social sciences and humanities research communities, and to build up content for existing open research platforms before launching new platforms.

This new role will work with, and grow, a network of contacts within existing publishing partners and the wider research community, with particular focus on social sciences, humanities and other areas outside of STM, advocating the advantages of open research publishing to these communities. The main responsibilities include:

• Developing services, processes and features that serve the needs of diverse research communities
• Establishing differences in scholarly publishing practices between academic disciplines
• Identifying new potential partners in the research community for developing gateways and collections in subject areas currently under represented
• Project-managing the set up, and driving growth and development of new gateways in HSS
• Implementing an outreach strategy to generate new submissions in HSS.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in HSS research publishing including significant contact with editors, authors, reviewers and societies and ideally experience with journal development activities. You will need to have an entrepreneurial streak and be excited by growing a new programme, self-motivation. You will also be an enthusiastic collaborative communicator, with proven negotiation and influencing skills with individuals at all levels of seniority.
