We have an interesting role with a global academic publisher, to join their Journals team, leading the delivery of Open Access. This is an interesting and varied role for someone with experience in journal publishing and a knowledge of Open Access where you will be responsible for the day to day management of Open Access operations, process improvement, market intelligence and recommendations to inform OA strategy.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating the delivery of OA under the direction of the OA Publisher / Director of OA
- Developing reporting, including financial, of current and future OA performance
- Supporting Sales colleagues with development of OA sales deal models and driving implementation of process and workflow changes required.
- Building, maintaining and sharing quantitative and qualitative research into the OA landscape, key developments and competitor activity to inform decisions on product and infrastructure development
- Supporting Editorial colleagues with scoping, launch and development of OA journals, and advising on best practice
- Proactively building long-term relationships both internally with colleagues and externally with funders, librarians and authors
- Participating in technology projects to improve the author, funder and librarian experience
- Managing the Open Access Coordinator, mentoring and supporting team members as appropriate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in Journal publishing and knowledge of Open Access
- Strong numerical skills and experience working with large data sets
- Ability to read and interpret financial data
- Ability to improve personal working practices and business processes
- Good time management skills and ability to manage a busy workload
- High level influencing, negotiating and communication skills
- Commercial awareness
