Ref 2518

Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford, which furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.
The Education Division provides books and resources across Primary & Secondary school markets and Children's trade & home markets, both for the UK and for customers around the world. We are passionately committed to our mission to educate and inspire through book, board and screen.
The Rights team currently comprises a team of seven who are responsible for selling the Division’s content rights around the world. Our list includes children’s picture books, fiction and learning at home books, dictionaries, readers, primary and secondary school books and digital resource.

We are currently looking to recruit a bright and focused sales motivated individual to play a key role in our high-achieving team and contribute to our business by growing subsidiary rights income from our publishing.  The role requires travel abroad (when travel recommences) and has the potential to develop into a more senior role for the right candidate interested in working closely with the Head of Rights to manage the Rights team’s activity.

This job posting may close earlier than the advertised closing date and we’d encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.

We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working.

You are currently responsible for selling rights internationally (licensing and co-editions), devising your own sales strategies and tactics, identifying sales opportunities from an expansive content list, meeting your revenue targets. You are highly organised, adaptable, resilient and self-sufficient with the ability to manage a varied workload in a competitive environment, being prepared to travel as required. You have a pro-active, smart and positive approach to problem solving and closing sales, as well as excellent communication skills.

In addition you:

  • have experience and knowledge of children’s book & school/educational publishing
  • have experience in all things Rights
  • can demonstrate a successful track record of closing and growing sales; meeting sales targets; finding and forming long-standing fruitful relationships with international partners
  • can demonstrate business acumen alongside effective people and communication skills
  • seek and strive for smooth business process administration and organisation

We care about work/life balance here at OUP and are open to discussing flexibility in respect of working hours and the use of technology to support regular remote working, dependent on role.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 11%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.

Please see our Rewards and Recognition page for more information.
