Our client is a leading professional publisher for the professional, academic and corporate markets based in Berkshire. They are seeking a part-time Production Manager (3 days a week) to manage their content through the digital production process, from source material to final delivery online and in print.
This role will be crucial in overseeing the production process, working with an offshore service provider based in India. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing a team of 3 full time direct reports, as well as freelance outworkers and the relationship with their overseas provider. The role will also be responsible for schedule management, budgetary management and to improve the quality and efficiency of processes and systems. A huge focus of this role will be to improve the quality of work and the processes driven by the external service provider in India, making sure each project is delivered to a high quality and with efficiency.
The successful candidate will have a knowledge of digital and print production processes, with both an overarching view and a hands on approach. Experience working with offshore Service Providers is absolutely essential, as well as sound technical knowledge of XML workflows. This is an organisation moving more towards digital processes, and therefore systems and IT knowledge to drive business systems improvement would be an advantage, with SQL being particularly desirable. Experience in people management is also essential alongside excellent project management, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
