Are you passionate about helping the next generation of readers to discover the books and ideas that can change their lives?

Would you like to help find new voices and to work on making the classics of tomorrow discoverable for everyone?

From Malorie Blackman to Adam Kay, Jeff Kinney and Manjeet Mann to Jacqueline Wilson and Humza Arshad, Philip Pullman to Karen McManus, the Puffin team work with some of the biggest names and the bestselling authors to bring to life stories that change and shape lives.

We have a fantastic opportunity at Assistant Editor level for a passionate, creative and organised individual to join the team who create books for readers aged 6 and upwards.

The person in this role will support the editorial team in publishing their existing authors, books and brands, and in finding new authors and books. You’ll also have the opportunity to manage some projects right through the editorial process.

About you

The team is looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working self-starter – someone full of ideas and who wants to immerse themselves fully in the titles that our Children’s team publish and in the world of children’s books more broadly. You’ll be organised, able to prioritise and multitask, and have a keen eye for detail. Liaising with colleagues and partners inside and outside the company is central to the role, so excellent communication skills are key.

What you’ll get in return is a collaborative team that will champion your ideas, support your creativity and give you the opportunity to work with some of the best-known authors in the world. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career.

You might be an Editorial Assistant looking for your next step, or an Assistant Editor ready for a new challenge, or someone who’s never worked in publishing but has transferable skills and a nose for a great book. Above all, we’re looking for someone with imagination, drive and enthusiasm.

If you think you could be that person, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply with a CV and Cover Letter.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 5th June.

Interviews will take place on the 16th June.
