Business Analyst (12-month FTC)

Our Publishing Systems Centre of Excellence are recruiting for a Business Analyst to join their Business Analysis function on a 12-month fixed term contract.

As a publishing Business Analyst, you’ll understand the business value of efficient and reliable workflows, processes and system features. You’ll also have a history of managing and satisfying complex requirements in a multi-stakeholder environment.

You’ll play a critical role in working and engaging with stakeholders across the business to understand current and future business requirements, supporting the implementation of solutions that will deliver true business value. You’ll strive to capture business requirements and address true business needs across Publishing, Inventory Management and Bibliographic business areas, working with a consultative manner aiming to achieve stakeholder confidence and satisfaction.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with our Product Manager to drive roadmaps for the publishing and content management systems used across Penguin Random House UK

  • Ensuring that business requirements are captured, prioritised and analysed

  • Prioritising changes to determine which, and when, to implement - within resource constraints

  • Operating collaboratively with other Centres of Excellence to ensure that cross-system developments and interfaces are correctly specified from a Publishing System user perspective

  • Ensuring that “as-is” and “to be” states are clearly documented, understood and communicated

  • Assisting the Test and Release function where required to understand and test new developments

  • Building and maintaining relationships with key business stakeholders, being comfortable to challenge and influence where required

To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

  • Experience of working as part of a multi-skilled technical team through the full systems development life cycle, working successfully with technology teams and in-house stakeholders

  • Strong experience of writing and managing requirements as use cases and/or user stories

  • Strong experience and working knowledge of frameworks such as Agile or Waterfall

  • An open and collaborative approach in a One Team environment

Our Publishing Systems team operates as part of a wider Centre of Excellence community across Technology, so you’ll become comfortable with working with various peers across the division. You’ll assist in identifying opportunities to rationalise and harmonise cross-system integration and interoperability, and will be involved with enterprise wide initiatives where required.

We as a Technology team appreciate and thrive best with an open, collaborative and supportive way of working, creating trusted relationships at all levels, and believe that a diverse team is what will make us all successful. We are happy to discuss our flexible working approach with you if invited to an interview. All interviews will be held virtually.
