Editor, Audio - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

This is an exciting time to join a fast-paced team that is setting a precedent for innovative and ground-breaking work within the audio market. At Penguin Random House Audio, the UK’s leading audiobook publisher, we are dedicated to making the very best audiobooks. Working with exceptional acting talent, producers and studios, we publish award-winning and bestselling audiobooks such as Bill Gate’s How To Avoid A Climate Disaster, Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, The Mole, The Fox And The Horse, and iconic brands such as the Penguin Black Spine Classics.

We are recruiting for an Editor to join the team on a 12 month basis to play a key role in ensuring our audio publishing and casting is the best in the business. You’ll be working independently on some of our biggest titles, casting actors, working with recording studios and doing detailed editorial work on texts and briefs for readers and studios. You’ll work closely with authors, agents and narrators, and with colleagues across the business.

You don’t need to come from a publishing background, we’re open to talent from inside and outside of the publishing industry including entertainment, TV, film, media or the arts. Even if you’re outside of those industries, if you’re a keen audiobook listener and have a real interest in stories and ideas for the audio format, particularly non-fiction, along with experience in a professional work environment, we want to hear from you.

A strong team player able to communicate effectively to a wide range of people and bring them together, you’ll also be organised and proactive, able to keep on top of multiple projects and ensure others deliver to deadline.

If you’d like to help to shape the future of audiobooks, the fastest-growing area of publishing, please apply to us with a CV and cover letter by the end of the day on Monday 16th May.  In your cover letter we would like you to tell us about what you think the current trends are in the audio market and about what you think the key elements to creating a great audiobook are (in no more than 300 words).

What you can expect from us:

Salary: £29,000 - £35,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
