Publishing Manager
The Poetry Translation Centre is seeking a Publishing Manager to complete our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with publishing experience, an international outlook and an entrepreneurial spirit. A proven track record in book sales is desirable. We particularly welcome applications from candidates from diaspora heritage backgrounds.
The Poetry Translation Centre was established by the poet Sarah Maguire in 2004, to introduce new audiences to leading poets from around the world. We publish award-winning books, organise poetry tours and deliver hands-on translation workshops that are open and inclusive to all. We offer free online resources including a popular dual-language poetry podcast and an extensive web archive of poems in translation. Our Undertow programme supports the development of young poets and translators, while the biennial Sarah Maguire Prize for Poetry in Translation, first awarded in 2020, spotlights the very best books in the field of poetry translation.
We are seeking a part-time Publishing Manager to manage the sales and distribution of the PTC’s books, and to administrate the Sarah Maguire Prize. You will work across the World Poet Series, single-author collections and other book projects, working closely with the PTC’s Director, who commissions and edits the list. You will be responsible for the management of the biennial Sarah Maguire Prize, managing submissions and convening the judging panel. You will also line-manage one student placement volunteer per year (spring term), who will play a supporting role across publications, the Sarah Maguire Prize and communications.
