Publishing Administrative Assistant

Post Wave Publishing is a leading Chinese publisher of adult and children’s titles, both originated and translated. We have recently established a UK subsidiary to originate and publish children’s books in the English Language. We are seeking a publishing assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to the publishing team and to assist with all aspects of office administration and coordination.

The successful candidate’s work will be varied across departments; and it is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to find a first job in children’s publishing. 

Role/responsibilities:

  • Creating and updating book metadata
  • Managing databases
  • Planning schedules and keeping projects on track
  • Maintaining submissions log
  • Writing copy and general sales and marketing support
  • Researching competition in the market
  • Checking and processing invoices
  • General office admin and admin for meetings including managing diaries and taking minutes
  • Liaising with our Chinese colleagues
  • Liaising with authors, illustrators, literary and design agents and freelance creatives
  • First point of contact for queries

Skills required:

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience of using Word and Excel, Indesign and Photoshop useful, but not essential
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and prioritise tasks
  • Ability to quickly build effective and positive working relationships
  • A clear and effective communicator, both in writing and verbally
  • Fluency in Mandarin is preferred
