Product Manager

Our client, a leading STM publisher requires a new Product Manager based within their London office. This is a multi-faceted role that requires that the Product Manager consider and articulate the strategic “big picture”, whilst being involved in the fine detail of product proposition research, design, validation, analysis and delivery of projects. 

The Product Manager will work in a small team of innovation-oriented product managers and will act as the proxy for the customer by being the interface between the business team and the development team. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintain a product roadmap based on customer feedback, user behaviour and business requirements
  • Create, prioritise and sequence execution of the product backlog according to business value and ROI, liaising with publishing, editorial and commercial teams
  • Assist in the elaboration of requirements into user stories
  • Maintain a clear product vision, and communicate this with the development team throughout the process
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings, iteration planning meeting reviews and retrospectives
  • Review product enhancements at the end of each iteration with ultimate responsibility to accept or reject work as complete
  • Communicate product status to the wider community and understand how the product fits in the wider company strategy

Skills & Experience:

  • The ability to communicate effectively and work within a team environment is critical.
  • A strong understanding of product design and user experience (UX)
  • Great communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A results-focused approach combined with a broad skill set including expertise in web analytics, A/B testing, user testing, UI, competitor analysis and metric definition
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience of working in both fast moving companies in high-growth mode as well as more complex environments involving multiple divisions and more stakeholders is ideal.
  • A “can do”, problem-solving approach
  • Digital skills and a desire to discover and innovate
  • An understanding of highly scalable, reliable, distributed systems using open source technologies and “cloud” services is advantageous
  • Experience of working with teams distributed across various locations
  • Experience in science, research, or publishing useful but not required
