One of our publishing clients is hiring for a Digital Product Manager to cover a maternity contract and work on a fantastic suite of digital collections in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including Music Studies, Religion and even Food!

About you:

Our client is looking for a successful track record in and enthusiasm for delivering digital products, ensuring they meet the need of users and that content updates and enhancements are delivered on time and to budget.

You will demonstrate a solid understanding of project management and development processes, and experience carrying out extensive market research through both qualitative and quantitative analysis with a view to develop a thorough knowledge of the academic library market and the target users.

This publisher have an XML-first workflow and experience editing XML and working with CMS platforms will be very advantageous.

Overview of the role:

The Product Manager will play a key role in the Academic division of an award-winning publisher, a team that is successfully re-imagining academic publishing for a digital environment. They will be supporting the Head of Product Innovation with new product research and proposal, as well as developing, launching and managing a growing list of products in the HSS portfolio.



Main responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as Product Lead and collaborating with the Editorial project team to develop new product ideas from proposal stage and research of content and requirements, through to design and development phase and MVP stage
  • Managing one other member of staff (Assistant Product Manager)
  • Configuring new sites via the admin interface, and perform user acceptance testing to report bugs, liaising with software developers on site management and bug fixing
  • Managing live products after launch to ensure updates and enhancements are performed accurately
  • Becoming a product champion for own platforms, working with Sales and Marketing teams to so that new content and updates are communicated to users and that requests for product enhancements are prioritised based on business priority
  • Providing regular usage analytics reports and advise on opportunities for improving content & features based on findings
  • Managing content requirements for new products, interfacing with production teams on content conversion, data planning and content loading matters
  • Overseeing subject indexing of content and taxonomy
