Production Controller

A leading publisher of illustrated non-fiction is looking for a Production Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a background in visual arts publishing to join a global team based in Central London.

 

Key duties:

  • Take responsibility for complete production process of a range of front-list titles from concept to delivery
  • Work closely with editorial department, external designers and overseas suppliers
  • Create and review production schedules in conjunction with the book-making team and Senior Production Manager
  • Schedule sourcing, testing and purchase of all book-making materials
  • Interpret book specifications and create a full Quotation Request specification ready for quotation and testing
  • Control all aspects of pre-press/repro
  • Manage and record pre-press and print spending, ensuring budgets are kept to

Experience / skills required:

  • Proven book production experience in 4 colour highly illustrated books
  • Excellent knowledge of printing, binding and non-standard book techniques
  • Experience of press passing and liaising with suppliers oversees is required
  • Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and MS Office
  • Problem solving attitude with an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
