Production Controller

A renowned academic publisher based in Oxford is looking for an experienced Production Controller to join their team! This exciting opportunity involves managing stock levels by being a part of the decision making process regarding quantity, quality and profitability. This decision making will be informed by taking care of the whole process of production and scheduling across all formats and maintaining the corrections via databases.

Key responsibilities will include:
·Ensuring stock availability and profitability
·Using forecasting systems to inform decision on print and reprint quantities
·Deciding on print-programmes, reprint, auto-replenishment or print-on-demand for each title and supplier
·Raising concerns and negotiating settlements with suppliers to maintain consistently high quality for books
·Accurately managing and coordinating corrections across all formats - including XML - in line with internal and external requirements
·Managing and ensuring timely data across all systems and databases including pricing, publication dates, title statuses and market restrictions

Our client is looking for a candidate who has experience in a book/electronic product production environment, so XML would be useful, and an understanding of the financial aspects of the process would be beneficial. Interpersonal skills are key to this role as a lot of communication will be required both departmentally as well as with external stakeholders.
