Production Controller (children's)

A leading independent publisher based in central London is looking for a Production Controller to join its children’s team. You will be working on fiction, non-fiction, picture book and novelty titles for both print and digital editions. This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a successful and renowned publishing house with an impressive list of high quality publications. 
 

Key duties:

  • Prepare files for print and digital editions
  • Accurately estimate project costing to ensure books are produced to budget
  • Negotiate print prices and print buying
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with in-house departments and external suppliers
  • Ensure that books are produced on time and meet required quality standards 

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in a production role in trade publishing, working on both colour and mono titles
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven record in print purchasing
  • Solid understanding of the book production process, from delivery of raw MS to print
  • Highly organised with a keen eye for detail and good time-management skills
  • Knowledge of Word is essential, a familiarity with Adobe CS and basic XML-first workflows is a bonus
  • Experience using Biblio3 is desirable
