Production Controller/Senior Production Controller

A leading trade publisher based in central London is looking for an experienced Production Controller/Senior Production Controller to work on a range of children products. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on an exciting list for an award winning children book publisher. The role would suit an individual who combines a strong eye for detail and accuracy with an open minded and solution focused approach.

Key duties:

  • Manage schedules for new titles and reprints on an extensive list of children’s novelty books
  • Monitor and manage accurate costs for new projects
  • Negotiate prices to budget and required quality standards
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and excellent quality
  • Liaise effectively with departments to communicate project updates
  • Chair business meetings and stand in for manager when needed
  • Consider safety of new and backlist products and maintain awareness of safety legislation
  • Recruit and monitor work and progress of junior team members
  • Maintain good relationships with internal team and external suppliers

Experience / skills required:

  • A firm understanding of print and reprographic processes
  • Strong passion for children publications
  • Solid experience in the production of wide range of books by a variety of suppliers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience in time management/planning
  • Experienced user of Biblio 3
  • Ability to negotiate and interpret printer quotes and margin costings
  • Proven skills in organisation and communication
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to build close working relationships
  • Knowledge of the European Safety Legislation would be advantageous
