Production Controller – Trade Books

Are you’re an experienced book production professional with trade publishing experience, looking for a role within a company which is innovative and passionate about the products they produce?

A global trade publisher based in central London is looking for a motivated and experienced production controller to work within their Special Sales division on their front list.  This is a great opportunity to sharpen your production skills and experience, working with well-known titles across their adult and children’s lists.

Reporting to the Senior Production Controller, this will initially be an 8 month contract and key responsibilities will involve:

• Producing a range of titles on the Special Sales front list from concept through to delivery
• Managing prices,  schedules, development and ensuring products are produced to budget and on time
• Negotiate production costs with suppliers, ensuring best outcomes for the organisation
• Deputise for your Senior Production Controller as necessary
• Participate in product development projects
• Keep abreast of new production developments within the industry

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:

• Proven production experience within  trade book publishing
• Knowledge of the print/production processes
• Safety testing is a distinct advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and budgets
• Strong negotiating and numeracy skills
• Fantastic organisation, communication and prioritising skills
