Production Editor (Academic)

A leading independent academic publisher is looking for a Production Editor to join the academic publishing team, working on books and digital products across a wide range of Academic subjects.  This is a great opportunity for a junior production editorial candidate to gain experience on a varied list at a well-known and prestigious publisher.

This is a temporary role run until March 2020.

Production Editor Key duties:

  • Coordinate production editorial workflow and tasks for the front list
  • Manage titles from receipt of manuscript through to delivery of final files for print and digital
  • Ensure titles are successfully delivered on time, to budget and meeting high quality standards
  • Responsible for print buying for monograph academic titles
  • Liaise with authors, internal departments and suppliers, reporting on progress to all stakeholders

Production Editor Experience / skills required:

  • Solid copy-editing and proof-reading experience
  • Proven print buying experience
  • Experience in an academic publishing environment
  • Excellent MS Office and familiarity with Adobe products
  • XML Knowledge is desirable
