Production Editor – HSS

An award-winning, successful and rapidly growing digital academic publisher of primary source archive collections in the arts and humanities, is seeking a Production Editor to act as a Project Lead for new collections and manage them from the start of the production process to the final published resource.

Reporting to the Senior Publishing Manager, the main responsibilities include:

• Managing all aspects of the production of a digital collection including organising digitisation & data capture
• Creating and maintaining a clear project plan, ensuring digital collection is on time/budget
• Negotiating and approving quotes and deadlines from external suppliers
• Managing the technical build of the digital collection and the test phase
• Managing the project team and external suppliers
• Assigning tasks/workflows, providing feedback, and supervising team performance
• Working with department colleagues on metadata, functionality, design, and research tools
• Liaising with technical partners and suppliers, approving samples of outsourced work
• Researching and writing content for projects
• Selecting and commissioning consultant editors & members of editorial boards for collections
• Attending archives to count and assess material for inclusion in projects

The successful candidate will have editorial production and project management experience within a scholarly setting and the publishing industry. You will have had experience building and managing relationships at all levels, be an effective decision maker and have experience with change and improvement. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and good commercial and creative instincts. An interest in primary source content and digital resources as an educational and research tool would be an advantage.
