Production Editor (Part Time)

We have an urgent requirement for a Production Editor to join our client, a leading professional publisher operating in the legal sector based in Central London, on a part time basis for a minimum of 6 months.

This role will be responsible for managing a range of titles through the sub-editorial and production process, copy editing and proof-reading where appropriate and making efficient use of external freelancers and suppliers, within an agreed budget and time schedule and to the appropriate standard of quality.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working in a legal or academic book publishing environment, preferably to include experience of managing freelancers. You must have a knowledge of basic sub-editorial and book production processes, with proven copy editing and proof-reading skills, preferably to include experience of on-screen editing. In addition you will need a strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, including Word - any experience of layout using InDesign or Photoshop would be an advantage. You will have superb communication skills, be able to work accurately and meticulously within deadlines and have a flexible, highly organised approach to your work.
