Rights Manager/Director

Profile Books are looking for a brilliant Rights Manager/Director to direct the selling of translation rights in the Profile, Serpent’s Tail, Souvenir, Wellcome and Economist lists.

The ideal candidate needs to have at least two to three years’ experience selling translation rights, both via co-agents and directly. You should be able to show you can handle multiple territories with energy and flair. You will be well-connected to and knowledgeable of the wider international publishing world, and have close relationships with the literary scouting community.

At Profile you will be involved with acquisition strategy and work closely with the editorial team in identifying our strongest titles and developing plans to maximise rights sales. You will co-ordinate the production of all rights material and lead our rights activity throughout the year and especially at international book fairs. Knowledge of foreign languages is helpful but not mandatory.

This is a role for an ambitious rights professional, and an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning independent publisher at a key moment in its history.

Title and salary commensurate with experience.

Please address your covering letter to Hannah Westland (Publisher, Serpent’s Tail) and send together with your CV to rightsjob@profilebooks.com by 16th November.
