Project Editor (1 year FTC)

Are you an enthusiastic Editor looking to take on a project management role?

We have a fantastic opportunity to join the special interest imprint of a leading independent publisher based in Oxford as a Project Editor on a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be seeing titles through from handover of manuscript through to publication, and working on a beautiful portfolio that ranges from standard-format and guides to large-format photographic collections.

Key responsibilities:

  • Overseeing titles from manuscript submission through to publication
  • Briefing collaborators internally and externally, and coordinate the work of designers, copy-editors, photographers, proofreaders, etc. to ensure books are produced to the highest quality and to the agreed schedule
  • Liaising with the author, and with other departments to ensure a smooth publishing process
  • Writing copies for cover and marketing purposes
  • Keeping the database up-to-date with title records

This is a great opportunity to work on a well-varied portfolio of illustrated non-fiction, and join a friendly and dynamic team.The ideal candidate will be confident managing both colour and mono titles through publication, and have a proven record of working with internal and external collaborators. They will possess strong copy-editing skills and the ability to prioritise your workload according to tight deadlines.
