Publisher - Digital Resources

We have a super new maternity cover role to manage the Digital Resources team for a leading global academic publisher.  Based in Oxford (though there is the possibility to work in London with weekly visits to the Oxford office), this role will  be responsible for implementing  programme strategy, managing the development and production of forthcoming online primary source collections to achieve publishing goals and working with other departments to ensure products are delivered on time and to budget.  This role will involve managing a team of Development Editors, therefore experience of managing team is essential.

Some of the core responsibilities of the Publisher role will include:

  • Overseeing the development and production process of creating subject specific online primary research collections
  • Managing the pipeline of products, including assessing market research and new proposals
  • Manage and provide leadership to the editorial team
  • Commission new products, including contract negotiation
  • Identify and source primary source content from archives and libraries both nationally and internationally
  • Create and oversee P7Ls and financial plans

This is a key role within the team and the successful person will have relevant experience of commissioning, developing and producing digital products for Higher Education, along with experience of working in a digital product development and production background.  You will need a solid understanding of product and platform development and team management experience.

An understanding of academic and library buying patterns is desirable as is industry and market awareness to inform decisions on product commissioning and development.
