Publisher or Senior Commissioning Editor (Parental Leave Cover)

We are looking for a creative and analytical Publisher, or Senior Commissioning Editor, from an Education background to join an innovative London based publisher of award-winning educational material for schools. This is a contract role to cover a period of parental leave. The company can offer part-time, flexible or remote working for the right candidate. The Publisher, or Senior Commissioning Editor, will be responsible for commissioning new products and developing a wide ranging portfolio of print and digital resources across Primary and Secondary. With responsibility for strategically developing the Assessment list this person will also be responsible for the commercial success of the existing product range, and act as the in-house expert. You will have an analytical eye with excellent market research skills. With proven experience in commissioning the you will be confident in building commercially viable product lists and profitable portfolios as well as managing a range of projects through different stages.

The ideal candidate will have proven skills in developing print and digital product concepts for the schools education sector. Strong project management skills are essential with the ability to guide, manage and deliver projects within budget and on schedule. Outstanding communication skills are key as well as an innovative nature and outlook. A strong knowledge of the UK Primary and/or Secondary Education sector and relevant contacts would be an advantage as would an interest in or experience of Assessment.

The role can either be a Senior Commissioning Editor or a Publisher, depending on candidate's experience.
