Publishing Assistant

Redwood is very excited to be working with a successful, friendly Children’s Book Publisher, to recruit a pro-active, talented Publishing Assistant, to work in a fast-moving and demanding environment. This exciting and highly varied role will work across several departments including editorial, design and production, providing support to the team in all aspects of the publishing process.

This is an ideal role for someone who can demonstrate some experience (internship/work experience, or someone who has studied a publishing degree), in a book publishing environment, and is passionate about forging a career in children’s publishing.

Within this role, you will have the opportunity to learn new skills and gain a broad overview of children’s publishing. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the wider departments in the company e.g. Editorial, Production, Design
  • Making reprint corrections to InDesign files and maintaining the reprint corrections spreadsheet
  • Writing copy for Advance Information sheets, working with editorial team on AI updates
  • Helping to design and check sales catalogues
  • Design administrative duties, including updating and keeping track of design deadline list
  • Biblio duties, including launching titles, raising ISBNs, checking ISBNs and prices before books go to print, and ensuring metadata is kept up to date
  • Organising material for Bookfairs and sales trips
  • Administration duties

To be considered for this not-to-be-missed role, you will need a meticulous eye for detail, a genuine passion for children’s books, and a keen interest in editorial and design. You should be able to demonstrate some experience of working in a trade book publishing environment, (Children’s would be ideal), with the ability to support the team. Creativity, adaptability, and enthusiasm are essential criteria for this role, as are sound IT skills. A knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, along with Office 365 are highly desirable and knowledge of Biblio would be an advantage.

If you are looking for an amazing opportunity in children’s publishing and would like further information, please send your CV with a short cover note to: info@redwoodrecruitment.com

Early applications may be prioritised.
