Publishing Editor - 12 months FTC

We have an exciting new role of Publishing Editor with a leading international academic publisher of high-quality journals, to join their Hybrid and Open Access Journals team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in scholarly, higher education or academic publishing to take on a specialist role and manage a growing and prestigious portfolio of multi-disciplinary journals. This role offers hybrid working with an average of 1 day a week in the London office, as well as excellent benefits!

The Publishing Editor will undertake the following responsibilities:

• Actively manage journal editor performance, ensuring best practice with regard to manuscript submission and peer review

• Analysing and managing the profitability of journals, preparing comprehensive reports and metrics to facilitate decision-making on journal development strategies

• Negotiate editor and society contract renewals
• Preparing P&L statements
• Leading journal editorial board meetings

The ideal candidate will have experience in running journals, ideally at an academic or scientific journal publisher, along with strong project management and presentation skills. Excellent stakeholder management skills are essential when liaising with senior academics and editors.
