Publishing Editor

We have a fantastic new role for a journals publishing professional who is looking for their next move in STM publishing, and the opportunity to further develop your skills and experience, whilst taking on more responsibility. A well-known and highly prestigious scientific publisher based in London is recruiting a Publishing Editor to take responsibility for supporting the development of their publications. This is a hybrid working role, with ideally 2 days a week working in the London office.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the strategic management, growth and development of the organisation's  publications to create innovative editorial strategies
  • Monitor compliance with industry best practice and ethical policies and consistency of Editorial Board decision making
  • Implement suitable monitoring and evaluation processes across the journals portfolio
  • Build strong relationships with members, partner organisations and other key stakeholders of the organisation
  • Represent the company at external meetings and events
  • Provide input into decision making in respect of usage of Editorial Board travel funds, journal marketing budgets and future income projections, during open access transitions

The successful person will have a biosciences degree or proven experience of working in a journal’s editorial environment, ideally with knowledge of open access and open science. This role offers a lot of responsibility, therefore some experience of strategic planning and the ability to allocate resources effectively and manage budgets would be useful but is not essential. You will have sound project management skills with the ability to manage and build relationships with key individuals and stakeholders at all levels.

If you are looking for a role in journal publishing that is going to give you the opportunity to broaden your experience and develop your skills set then we would love to hear from you.

For further information please send your CV with a short cover note outlining your interest and salary expectations.
