Publishing Editor/ Senior Publishing Editor, STM Journals

A leading academic publisher is looking for a Publishing Editor to join their STM journals editorial team in central London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has solid understanding of journal publication process to manage and develop a list of titles independently in the area of Medicine and Life Sciences. 

This role is available in either Publishing Editor/ Senior Publishing Editor position.

Key duties:

• Independently manage and develop a portfolio of journals, ensuring quality and in accordance with company strategy
• Monitor the performance of journals on your list and work to maximise profitability
• Develop strategic plans and take financial responsibility for the portfolio
• Work closely other internal departments and manage relationships with external contacts
• Manage relationships with journal editorial boards and publishing partners
• Represent company at Editorial Board meetings and attend key conferences and exhibitions where appropriate
• Ability to identify, advise and act appropriately on ethical or legal questions relating to publication

Experience / skills required:

• Proven experience managing a list of STM or academic journals
• Strong knowledge of the journal publication process and industry
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to work on simultaneous tasks to tight deadlines
• Confidence presenting to academics and ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
