Publishing Editor – STM Journals
Reporting to the Publisher you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the editorial, academic and professional quality, reputation and profitability of the list. The main responsibilities include:
- Managing journal editorial performance, establishing and implementing best practice
- Providing creative support to Editors, negotiating terms, content and services
- Recruiting new Editors and undertaking searches for potential Editors
- Monitoring the performance of journals, reviewing and reporting internally and externally, maximising revenues and controlling costs
- Attending and representing the company at editorial board meetings
- Liaising with production and marketing
- Representing the company at key conferences and exhibitions
- Responsibility for seeing acquired titles from contract through to transmittal
- Negotiating and completing the contract renewal process for society-affiliated arrangements
- Supporting the Publisher as required with departmental projects and tasks.
The successful candidate will have proven experience and demonstrable project management skills, in managing a list of journals, ideally from an academic or scientific journal publisher. You will have the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally, working independently with academic authors, editors and professional societies.
Candidates will be of graduate calibre with a working knowledge of the journals publication process.
