Publishing Operations Manager

We are working exclusively with the publishing team at a scientific society in central London to find an experienced Publishing Operations Manager, who will bring strong interest in publishing technology to this role, taking charge of and transforming workflows for scholarly scientific communication.

Key duties:

  • Drive development of publishing operations and processes, using new technology to enable delivery of top-quality digital products and online tools, as well as print versions where relevant
  • Lead and motivate the publishing operations team, building a culture of continuous improvement
  • Responsible for developing the use of new publishing technologies and implementation of new processes in line with agreed digital strategies and growth plans
  • Keep up to date with developments and trends in publishing processes and data management in order to identify opportunities for new products/services and partnerships
  • Ensure author and customer service and operational standards are of the highest standard

Experience / skills required:

  • Wide experience across STM journal production with a particular focus on digital publication processes
  • Knowledge of XML and experience of working with meta-data
  • Strong knowledge of publishing technology and industry standards and practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience of managing budgets and working to KPIs
  • Solid team management experience with the ability to motivate at times of change
