Rights and Contracts Manager - FTC 12 months

Our client is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Rights and Contracts Manager to join their team for a 12 month Fixed term contract. This role is crucial in driving rights and contractual strategies to foster revenue growth across both books and magazines. .

The successful candidate will research and identify new customers and sales growth opportunities while liaising with co-agents to facilitate successful sales in their markets. The role also involves handling permissions requests, managing reversion and renewal requests, maintaining accurate records related to rights and contracts, and managing the part-time rights assistant and their workload.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and negotiate terms for various agreements, including head agreements, addenda, audio narration contracts, and more.
• Provide advice on contractual or rights-related queries.
• Build and maintain relationships with foreign publishers, audio publishers, and large print publishers.
• Maximise rights sales turnover and explore new market opportunities.

• Advise on offers to acquire titles, ensuring alignment with the company's commercial policy.

• Manage agreements with magazine contributors and finalize agreements for sublicensed editions.
• Collaborate with the Publishing Director to forecast budgets and plan strategies for the rights department.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organsational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively, using strong negotiation and sales skills, and proven stakeholder management abilities. A detailed understanding of publishing agreements for books and magazines and confidence in managing a high volume of work in a vibrant environment are essential.
