Royalties Executive

A London based book publisher is looking to recruit an experienced Royalties Executive on a 12 months fixed term contract, with an option to extend.  This role will be responsible for the administration and support of statements, advances, sub-rights and queries for the organisation and will be based within the finance team. This is a hybrid working role which will mostly work from home and attend the office for meetings, but candidates need to be based in the UK.  This role is available to start as soon as possible.

The position will be responsible for supporting and ensuring that the data in the new system is input and maintained in line with the old royalty system.  You will be liaising with and supporting the editorial team and will gain a good understanding of any key issues with Authors and Agents, to ensure that they are addressed and followed up accordingly.

This position will be a supporting role and will help the finance team with the timely payment of advances, rights income and royalties, with half yearly royalty statements being produced and checked in line with deadlines. Monthly tax reporting, both VAT and withholding tax documentation will need to be completed and Author/Agent queries answered. This is a very hands-on role and will require excellent attention to detail.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the transition of royalty metadata to the new royalty system (Biblio).
  • Check all live existing contracts and validate the royalty rates in agreement with individual contracts
  • Add all rights and sub rights contracts and agreements to the royalty system.
  • Add new contracts to the system as and when they arise and maintain the royalty platform keeping it up to date of changes.
  • Review both ingoing and outgoing royalty statements.
  • Collection of royalties from overseas publishers.
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support to Agents.

This role is available immediately and the successful person will have some proven experience of working in royalties, with a solid understanding of royalty contracts and general royalty systems, either from a publishing background, or a similar industry (ideally). You will possess high attention to detail, with the ability to multi task; great organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.

If you are available and would like to broaden your royalties experience, please get in touch by sending your CV to: info@redwoodrecruitment.com
