Sales Manager (UK Mass-market)

A globally recognized children’s publisher, specialising in high-quality, illustrated books is looking for an experienced Sales Manager to lead and grow their sales into supermarket, high volume and discount sales channels. The right candidate is a results-driven, margin focussed self-starter, who has a proven track record selling children’s books within the publishing industry, experience managing accounts in mass-market and non-traditional sectors, and so will have significant existing buyer relationships.

This role is pivotal in driving sales growth across non-traditional and mass-market channels, with supermarkets and large discount retailers being of particular focus. In this senior sales role, a talented and motivated candidate will have the opportunity to make their mark and deliver significant impact by shaping and building the strategy for this sector of the market.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for mass-market and non-traditional channels, focusing on revenue growth and business development.
  • Build and manage existing relationships with key accounts, ensuring optimal account performance and sales growth.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities; conducting regular market research to identify trends and opportunities for growth, adapting sales strategies accordingly.
  • Perform regular sales reports and market analysis to provide insights on performance and inform future growth opportunities.

Experience and skills required:

  • Previous experience in a UK Sales role in a publishing environment in the relevant sales channels, ideally with a focus on children's books.
  • A solid track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets. 
  • A proven relationship builder and adept problem solver.
  • High standard of communication skills, with the ability to build strong, long-lasting relationships.

Salary: DOE.

Reports to: Group Sales, Rights & Marketing Director 

Location / Work Pattern: This role will follow a hybrid working pattern, with a preferred 3 days in London office.
