Founded in 1968 to provide the food and drink community with better access to industry-specific research and information, IFIS was the result of a collaboration between four internationally renowned food science and technology organisations. Today, IFIS operates as a not-for-profit academic publishing organisation and educational charity, and is one of the leading international providers of high-quality information in the sciences of food and health.
IFIS produces FSTA, an extensive, human-curated digital database of carefully selected food and health content, which is collated, summarised and indexed for efficient searching. We recently launched IFIS Collections, a bespoke service for industry professionals. These databases are used by researchers, industry practitioners and students around the world to keep up to date with new findings in the sciences of food and health.
The Managing Director is delegated overall responsibility for the effective running of IFIS, with the support and guidance of the Chair and Board of Trustees. They are responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the core business, including product development, service delivery and general management of the company.
The MD works within the company’s objectives, policies and priorities agreed by the Board of Trustees, and has the delegated responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the organisation, including determining everyday procedures and implementation of the strategy approved by the Board of Trustees.
The successful candidate will have a track-record of successfully shaping and executing strategic development, leading and developing high performing teams and organisational management.
The person must have the ability to network and establish good professional relationships and influence across a range of stakeholders, including vendors, partners, publishers and with academia, industry and government personnel.
