Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books, working with thousands of schools in the UK and Ireland every year to inspire children to read for pleasure.

We create wonderful children’s books by authors and illustrators including Julia Donaldson, Axel Scheffler, Philip Pullman, Alesha Dixon, Liz Pichon, Terry Deary, Martin Brown and Benjamin Zephaniah across picture book, fiction and non-fiction areas. You will work alongside our creative teams that publish such brilliant series as Tom Gates, Horrible Histories, Hunger Games, Voices and Northern Lights as well as launching new and exciting books and series as part of a hugely creative team.

We are looking for a highly creative thinker, with an equally creative approach to work across our Picture Book, Non-fiction and Fiction lists designing commercial trade and co-ed friendly books. Working alongside all members of the Publishing team you will help produce design concepts according to budget and schedule, to create new and unique novelty formats.

With proven and established experience of designing children’s books, you will need to be a creative thinker and all round team player, able to both provide and take direction in an open minded, enthusiastic but always supportive manner. Exceptional organisation skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines, you need a willingness to not only absorb, but also expand on your market knowledge. An excellent standard of both written and oral English is essential as is your fluency in the use Adobe software and other relevant design packages.
