Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books, and we are looking for an exceptional Key Account Manger to join our dynamic UK Trade Sales Team to work across a variety of premiere accounts including Waterstones.

If you are passionate about Children’s and YA publishing and want to work on some of the most successful global brands including Dog Man, Horrible Histories, The Hunger  Games , Pokemon and Tom Gates plus internationally renowned authors and illustrators such as Julia Donaldson, Patrice Lawrence, Philip Pullman and Axel Scheffler then come and work with us.

Our ideal candidate will be a confident communicator both externally and internally and with a desire to immerse themselves in the whole publishing process from acquisition, cover design, forecasting and print decisions through to presenting to customers and sharing feedback.  Strong market knowledge will be key along with a keen eye for competitor campaigns and an interest in what excites and delights young people.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Account management, particularly Waterstones and Supermarkets.
  • To negotiate profitable deals to approved margins and retail budget to achieve and exceed targets.
  • To communicate account and sales information to the wider business, anticipating the needs and sensitivities of each individual customer to achieve the best coverage and sales for every title published.
  • Analyse data to inform sales strategy in conjunction with Trading Director, Finance and Key Account Teams.
  • To liaise with warehouse, customer service and inventory staff to ensure there is adequate stock to meet demand, and promotional dates are met.

In addition you will need to be a numerate and highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail. Both flexible and resourceful, you will need the ability to prioritise and use your initiative.
