Scientific Copy-Editor

A not-for-profit publisher of scientific journals, based in Cambridge, has an exciting opening for a Copy Editor. This is a perfect opportunity if you have a scientific background with copy-editing experience and are looking to join a friendly team in the Cambridge area. This is a 2 year contract role initially and full-time or part-time working would be considered.

Key duties:

  • Copy-edit articles to a high standard
  • Compile author corrections
  • Oversee the journal production process
  • Check citations, edit reference lists and source missing reference information when necessary
  • Work closely with authors, academic editors and production teams to ensure timely, high quality publications

Experience / skills required:

  • Proven experience in scientific copy editing
  • Excellent communication and literacy skills and proven attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills with a diplomatic approach
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a life science subject
