Senior Commissioning Editor - 12 Month Contract

A leading independent children's book publisher in Central London is looking to appoint a Senior Commissioning Editor on a maternity cover contract. The list will be covering Picture Books and your role will be to develop and grow this list including list building, finding new authors as well as building and growing relationships with existing ones. You will have the ability to take full title management, contribute to the development of marketing plans, liaising closely with the sales and marketing team. You will have a sound background in developing and commissioning picture book texts and projects, negotiating and preparing contracts and budget management. You will be able to demonstrate initiative and the ability to apply sound commercial awareness and judgement. The ideal candidate will be experienced working as a commissioning editor within children's publishing along with a thorough understanding and appreciation of children's picture book market place and needs.
