Senior Commissioning Editor / Publisher 14 month FTC

Are you looking for an exciting new role in the new year? We are working on a lovely parental cover for a Senior Commissioning Editor role for one of the market-leader publishers of Philosophy books and resources!

This role will sit in an award-winning Academic publishing team and actively commission new titles across different philosophical schools of thought, aimed both at students and general audience. The team will consider candidates at a Senior Commissioning Editor or Publisher level, depending on experience.

This company offers hybrid working with 2 days a week in the London office.

Responsibilities:

• Managing a pipeline of new titles, including a handover of projects from current postholder as well as brand new commissioning opportunities
• Working closely with the authors, ensuring they receive excellent care throughout the publishing process
• Building and maintaining a network of authors and contacts in the Philosophy field
• Managing more junior members of the editorial team to help delegate work and meet team objectives
• Overseeing the frontlist and keeping it to schedule and budget targets

We are looking for a book commissioning editor with experience in non-fiction or Academic HSS, who will demonstrate a creative and commercial approach to list development. You will be well versed in commissioning and liaising with authors, and bring strong organisational and analytical skills to the role.
