A successful London based publisher of medical journals is looking to recruit a motivated individual to work with the Managing Editor to direct and oversee the editing and publication of a flagship journal, by leading a small team ensuring the journal is published to the highest quality and on time.
The Senior Deputy Managing Editor will evaluate the work of the team and ensure that the team are adequately trained, mentored and coached to the required editorial standard, as well as edit articles and act as a final arbiter for production values of the journal, including overseeing consistency with the in-house style. Other responsibilities will include checking factual content and deal with any upcoming queries, particularly potential challenges with plagiarism, animal ethics and patient consent. Additional tasks will include peer review and deputising for the Managing Editor as and when required. Our client offers a flexible working arrangement between the office and homeworking.
The successful person will be educated to degree level in the biological sciences with the ability to manage a small team of scientific editors. You will have demonstrable editorial experience from a similar medical/healthcare publishing background with the ability to manage high quality work within the team whilst driving deadlines.
