Senior Editor - 12 Months Maternity Cover - Children's Publishing

Are you an Editor with experience in children’s publishing, ready for more responsibility and a wider role?  Are you looking to broaden your children’s publishing experience working with different products, working with an award-winning publisher in a Senior Editor role? A highly successful Children’s publisher, based in London is looking to recruit a Senior Editor to join their busy editorial team on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the Commissioning Editor, this pivotal role will involve managing your own titles through the publishing process. You will write AI copy, cover copy and briefs as well as copy editing, line and structural editing.  Other areas of responsibility will include costing projects, meeting schedules and budget and reading/reporting on submissions and manuscripts for the team.

You will be working with high-profile authors and agents, and will represent the company and represent the company at sales conferences and promote your own list in-house. Therefore it is essential you have great communication skills and confidence.

This is a wonderful opportunity to miss and the successful person will have proven editorial experience, ideally within a children’s publishing environment with the ability to create books to the highest standard, on time and within budget. A sound knowledge of the children’s market would be highly desirable as would a solid knowledge of the market.  You will have experience of building agent and author relationships and excellent editorial skills.
