Senior Editor
We have a fabulous opportunity to work for a progressive and highly successful publisher of scientific journals, ebooks and other digital products. Based in London, this newly created role offers the successful person the opportunity to grow and develop this role and put their stamp on it.
The Senior Editor will be responsible for one of the company’s flagship journals, consistently achieving journal publication and business targets. You will build your knowledge of research advances, subject experts and centres of excellence within journal scope to ensure cutting-edge, high-quality content is commissioned and published to deadline. You will also commission, schedule and manage the content for your journal as well as curate journal social media accounts to engage with the scientific community and promote journal awareness.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Journal and article content development
- Relationship building and management of Editorial Board and Subject Experts
- Journal management (24-30 issues)
- Assist the Editorial Director with reports and admin as needed
- Quality control
- Social media
- Departmental goals and company projects
This is a super new role for someone with some commissioning experience on a scientific journal, looking for the next step in their journal publishing career, more responsibility and the opportunity to carve out their own niche. The successful person will be educated to degree Level or higher in a life science subject and will have some proven commissioning experience within a journal environment. Ideally, you will have experience of using ScholarOne for managing manuscripts from submission through to acceptance, and an interest in building knowledge of relevant scientific subjects. Great attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines are essential.
