Senior Editor - Children's (contract)
Do you have a passion for children’s books, solid editorial experience and the ability to independently manage a range of fiction and picture book titles from post-commissioning through to publication? This Senior Editor 12 month maternity cover contract will be a great next step for you and a rare opportunity to gain experience with a prestigious independent children’s publisher in London.
Key duties:
- Manage a list of fiction and picture book titles to ensure high quality standards of design and editorial work are maintained
- Provide costings for projects and work to meet schedule and budget requirements
- Carry out editorial duties, including proof reading, copyediting, line editing and structural editing
- Write Advanced Information copy, cover copy and cover briefs for own titles
- Work closely with authors and agents, developing and maintaining strong relationships
- Read and report on submissions and manuscripts for the team
- Present titles as at sales conferences and promote own titles internally
- Identify opportunities for new projects and list growth
Experience / skills required:
- Solid editorial skills in children’s books publishing
- A good knowledge of the children’s books market
- Experience of managing the editorial process from post-commissioning through to publication
- Experience of engaging with relevant social media channels
- Highly IT literate and experience using Biblio would be advantageous
