Senior Editor - Children's Fiction

Think Selection has been asked to find a Senior Editor to join the Fiction team in the Children’s Publishing division of a leading international publishing house.

This is a fantastic career opportunity for a Children’s Fiction book editor as you’ll edit a range of trade fiction books working with leading and emerging authors, and if you’re seeking a career path in commissioning you’ll also have the opportunity to develop in the role by acquiring your own titles.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Review submissions to identify and present suitable projects in editorial meetings
• Collaborate closely with agents and authors to ensure the company is a sought-after publisher for fiction authors
• Running title costings, obtaining approval on advances, and negotiating deals as needed
• Working with the broader team to shape the publishing plans for the authors, books, and series you oversee, and representing their interests in key decision meetings
• Craft compelling cover copy, AI copy, and metadata to optimise sales
• Coordinating with Managing Editors, Design, and Production to ensure titles meet their scheduled deadlines within budget
