Senior Editor - Licensing - Entertainment Division (12 month FTC)

The world’s leading illustrated non-fiction trade publisher is looking for a Senior Editor with experience in licensing publishing to join their team as a maternity cover for their entertainment brands within their Licensing division.   

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects, supervising project & junior editors, and keeping up-to-date with industry trends when identifying opportunities for growth.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Commissioning: Develop new products for global trade markets (including custom and special clients) by researching market trends; nurture existing and new relationships with suppliers, authors, agents, licensors, and clients; ensure products adhere to licensor guidelines and territory requirements; negotiate with contributors. 
  • Editorial: Supervise and undertake hands-on editorial work; control budgets and schedules; maintain comprehensive records of communications; ensure all content is legally sound and fit for publication; create sales material for book fairs, launches, and sales meetings.
  • Supervisory: Steer, motivate, and offer guidance to others; regularly update the Managing Editor; delegate routine tasks where appropriate; when required, deputise for Managing Editor.

Successful applicants will possess a strong knowledge of brand licensing. A high level of creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and prior knowledge of the adult’s book market is essential. Successful candidates will be confident negotiators, have a commercial mind-set, be hands-on but also know when it’s right to delegate. 

This role would suit someone with a strong licensing editorial background, with experience in either books, magazines or other roles involved in the creation of editorial content.
