Senior Editor (Non-Fiction / Commissioning)

A lively and independent illustrated publisher and packager of gift, humour and how-to books in central London is looking for a Senior Editor for their growing team. You will join a small, innovative, creative, hard-working and dedicated team to work on a range of illustrated titles across subjects such as health and fitness, humour and gift titles.

As Senior Editor you will be a key part of the pitching department and focus on ideas-generation, commissioning and managing freelance teams and creatives. Other key responsibilities will include briefing text and design to editorial staff, negotiating fees for pictures where necessary, and overseeing editorial processes. The ideal candidate will have good contacts and commercial knowledge within illustrated non-fiction books with excellent editorial and project management skills.

You must have proven commissioning experience in a book publishing environment and working to budgets and organising photo shoots would be advantageous. You should have good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively on all levels and enjoy using your initiative. The successful candidate will have great attention to detail and be brimming with ideas as you would be working in a very creative environment.
