Are you a Senior Production Controller looking for an immediate start? Our client a well known Trade Publisher is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Production Controller to join their dynamic team for a 3 month fixed term contract. As a Senior Production Controller, you will play a crucial role in the production of a diverse range of Children's & Trade products, including fiction and non-fiction titles, picture books, and novelty items. You'll collaborate with highly successful brands, bestselling authors, and talented illustrators. Reporting to the Production Director, you'll work within the Group Production team, overseeing the production of non-trade and custom titles. We're seeking an experienced individual who can confidently manage projects within budget, maintain quality standards, and meet deadlines. If you have strong organisational and communication skills, coupled with a creative flair and meticulous attention to detail, this role is perfect for you.
- Uphold cost-effective production by accurately estimating and monitoring expenditures for product creation.
- Engage in negotiations with suppliers, providing precise cost breakdowns, and handling invoice processing.
- Efficiently oversee schedules for a variety of reprint and new editions or customized titles, ensuring transparent communication with all stakeholders.
- Take charge of order management, encompassing print quotations, schedules, file submission/approvals, and overseeing the entire printing process to shipping and delivery note generation.
- Collaborate with printing and freight providers across Asia, Europe, and other regions to optimise production processes.
- Ensure that all books and other items comply with pertinent safety regulations.
- Ensure print jobs adhere to social compliance and other standards, especially those associated with specific licensor.
- Provide support to other Production Controllers and the Production Manager/Director as needed to manage workloads and departmental requirements.
The ideal candidate for this role should possess prior experience in negotiating and coordinating print and freight services in Asia and Europe, managing safety testing and approvals, handling multiple projects concurrently. They should also have a good understanding of Children's books and related products, adeptness in working with various stakeholders, effective workload management, familiarity with international freight and incoterms, along with some knowledge of product safety, especially related to books and toys.
Additionally, candidates with a strong background in mono and four-colour printing, expertise in novelty books and books plus production, excellent negotiation, communication, numerical, and problem-solving skills, as well as commercial acumen, are encouraged to apply.
