Simon & Schuster UK publishes a wide range of non-fiction and is one of the UK’s premier publishers. We publish bestsellers such as Bob Woodward, Mary Trump, John Nicholl, Walter Isaacson, and many more.

Job Profile:

We are looking to recruit a commercially savvy and strategically minded commissioning editor, to work on our serious non-fiction list.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Publishing Director, Non-Fiction, the role is centred on building Simon & Schuster’s serious non-fiction list, and involves taking responsibility for your own authors and acquiring the best new writers for the list. You will manage your own list of authors and will be responsible for delivering strategic and profitable commercial publishing. You will have a keen eye for trends and strong knowledge of the market.  You will be a key part of a team dedicated to publishing the very best non-fiction, and will play a key role in developing the future of our list.

The Candidate’s Profile: 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, a meticulous eye for detail and an ability to interact at all levels. A passion for serious non-fiction is essential.

We are keen to hear from the widest range of candidates and we’re open to different types of experience. If you have experience in non-fiction publishing, we would love to hear from you, but it is not essential. What we do require is a proven track record of making things happen. We would like to hear from someone who has a vision for their publishing, and a clear idea of how they’d deliver it.

You must be driven, ambitious, passionate about books, and have strong ideas about what you’d like the shape of your list to be.
