In addition to publishing a wide mix of literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction, and an award-winning children’s list, we also provide sales and distribution services to several award-winning independent Client Publishers from the UK, USA and Australia. These include VIZ Media, Andrews McMeel, National Geographic Adult and Elliott & Thompson.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
Reporting to the Deputy Publishing Director, Adult Publishing, the role would consist of all editorial activities leading to publication across non-fiction titles, including reading and assessing manuscripts, preparing AIs, copywriting, minute taking, maintaining our database, and close liaison with all other departments. You will also provide vital support to our eBook and audio list.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Overall support for the smooth running of the Non-fiction team
• Working closely with editors on copy, AIs, and title information
• Minute taking in meetings such as Acquisitions, Editorial, Non-fiction Launch and Title Focus
• Author support such as gifts, contractual copies and admin tasks
• Some diary management and providing administrative support
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
• A proactive, can-do attitude
• An interest in non-fiction publishing
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills
EXPERIENCE:
n/a – But an interest in non-fiction publishing and an awareness of some market-leading books would be helpful.
QUALIFICATIONS:
n/a – But a lot of this role’s responsibilities will be on the page so strong grasp of grammar and communication skills are essential.
