The Job Profile

Award-winning Simon & Schuster Children's Books is seeking a driven, creative, highly commercial and digitally-savvy Marketing Director to join one of the fastest growing and most dynamic Children’s Publishers in the UK. This newly created Marketing Director role will take responsibility for an allocation of author and series brands, and will also lead Marketing strategy for our newly launched platform-led Gallery Kids and Gallery YA lists. A member of the Children’s Leadership Team, the Marketing Director will report into the Deputy Managing Director and be responsible for a team of 3.

The Job Role

You will be responsible for developing and leading brand marketing strategies, trade and consumer facing campaigns for allocated Author and Series Brands and for the two Gallery imprints that sit within the Children’s Division.

You will work in collaboration with Deputy MD and Marketing & Publicity Director and their teams to create and implement digital brand strategies to grow and maximise owned channels.  You will drive collaboration and shared understanding to maximise the potential of global brands with internal, external and international stakeholders.

You will lead and empower your team to share data-led learnings and put innovation and creativity at the heart of their campaigns, and be a productive voice in all conversations around Brands and the Gallery imprints 

The Candidate Profile

You will have experience of developing and implementing smart and creative consumer brand strategies across both on and offline, with a proven passion for building consumer-focused brands and IP, and excellent consumer (reader and purchaser) focus and insight to drive engagement and sales.

A real enthusiasm for team leadership and bringing the best out of the team so that you hit commercial targets, promote innovation and aim to be a best in class, award winning team is key. You must be highly organised and able to manage multiple competing deadlines, prioritising and delegating effectively, whilst dealing with multiple stake holders both in the UK and global.
